Healing System of Sage Garden Barbados

Last July, I was invited by the National Cultural Foundation - Barbados to participate in their Bush Tea, Herbs, Plants and Botanical Stories. The collection is a five-part video series taking viewers on a journey of discovery into the benefits, traditional uses, folklore and mythologies around local herbs, plants and grasses.

I introduced Sage Garden Barbados, the regenerative healing food and medicine project that Cherita Olton and I started in 2019. There have been many changes brought on by the pandemic, but thankful and humbled to be a part of the conversation on the importance of being connected to scared space, the land, the ancestors and indigenous rememberings.

A special thank you to Michelle Springer for the invitation to lend my voice and experience to the collection, which is a must-see! To Ayesha Gibson for being an amazing, effervescent and gracious host and to Dr Damian Cohall for his immense wisdom on aetiology and pharmacological applications. Wider thank yous to Andre Hoyte and the team at NCF for supporting this work on remembering and healing and to the filmmakers Nathan Hippie Mack and Malik Mings for making it all come together.
